Wonderful day cruise We have been to Victor Harbour many times but had not taken a Coorong cruise before. A neighbour suggested taking the day cruise and as we were fortunate enough to be there at the right time we decided to give up our sleep-in time and brave the cold to go on the cruise. Preparing ourselves for a cold day we set off from McCracken Country Club to the Goolwa Wharf to board the Spirit of the Coorong and settle for the cruise. The Captain, Bain and his offsider were very friendly and efficient in their handling of the boat and extremely knowledgeable about the area, bird species in the area and the local indigenous people. We had a delicious cold lunch and later afternoon tea (morning tea not usually provided but as there were not many of us it was). The side trips were spectacular and very informative. All in all we had a great 6 hours and would thoroughly recommend this to all visiting this area. A great way to spend the day and great value for money.
Where the Murray meets the Ocean I love birds. When my Tour Operator suggested a trip to the Wetlands near Goolwa I was IN. The boat was the Coorong and what a pleasure it was to travel on her. The Skipper was knowledge himself, lunch was delicious and the walk to the Ocean was fantastic.Bring plenty of insect repellant as there are mosquitos near the dunes. I had an extra attraction. The Murray was in flow due to the rain they had in South Australia. If you are a visitor to the region, don't miss this. And I saw plenty of birds, including the Oyster catcher
Amazing experience A friend and I took the 4 hour cruise and it was worth every cent. The crew were knowledgeable, the boat was comfy and lunch was surprisingly nice. There was plenty of time for little walks off the boat as well as viewing from on board. Unfortunately we went on a drizzly day but crew made sure we missed out on nothing and altered the cruise to our advantage to ensure we got our money's worth, Overall a wonderful experience.
