Excellent tour! Only took the 3.5hr trip as thought the 6 hour one would be too long. How wrong can one be? Well organised, most informative guides, very good meal. No negative aspects whatsoever.
Great experience We did the Spirit of the Coorong Adventure Cruise, which involves two walks. The first over the Younghusband peninsula boardwalk to the Southern Ocean is an easy stroll rewarded by an opportunity to try your hand (or feet) at searching for cockles. Freshly cooked cockles are ready and waiting on your return to the boat. After lunch, which is a lovely packed picnic lunch box, there is a slightly more arduous walk at Cattle point to an aborigine midden. All through the trip there was excellent commentary and plenty of bird life to view. The boat was full and booking is definitely recommended. Arrive a little early for your cruise and treat yourself to a coffee at Hector's cafe on the wharf.
3.5 hour Coorong cruise Leaving from the main wharf at Goolwa this cruise went through the lock and to the mouth of the Murray. From there we disembarked at Barkers knoll to walk across the dunes to the sea. Back on board we went further down the Coorong. A comprehensive cold lunch hamper was provided as was tea and coffee. You could take your own wine if desired but no alcohol was available on board. A very enjoyable afternoon with lots of wildlife (I am talking about thousands) including playful seals and majestic pelicans. The commentary was entertaining and informative and the hosts had boundless knowledge about the Coorong.
