Very Educational Partner & I went on the 4 hour Cooyong Discovery Cruise as we were in Goolwa on a Thursday. Great trip with a lovely lunch of mixed cold meats and salads, bread roll, biscuits & cheese, tea & coffee. The skipper Bain was very informative about the Coorong & the Barrages and had many stories of early days and the recent drought. Because of the silting up of the mouth we had to start from Hindmarsh Island – a 15min drive there from Goolwa. We had a short walk on the sand of the Mouth of the Murray, as well as a guided nature walk from the Coorong through to the Southern Ocean by Brendan which was also very informative. Lots of birds to see even though it wasn’t peak bird season.A very enjoyable trip and totally recommended.
This is a good trip! A group of ten of us all really enjoyed the 6 hour trip over Easter. As others have commented the staff were very well informed, pleasant and the commentary was excellent. The food provided was very good as well and we enjoyed the walk to the beach and into the midden. Very happy to recommend this cruise.
Gippsland Lakes cruise Three members of my family (including my wife and mother-in-law) have just done a terrific cruise with Jock, Brian and Chris on the Gippsland Lakes from Sale to Lakes Entrance. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being able to explore this area 'from the water'. Jock's commentary was excellent and if we did have any questions, all 3 gentlemen were always approachable/helpful. There were numerous stops along the way where we could get off the boat for a bit to stretch our legs and have a look around. Our accommodation for 3 nights at Mariners Cove in Paynesville was excellent and it was particularly convenient not having to pack your bags for those 3 days as we were coming back to stay at the same place overnight after cruising to new places during the day. This is our second cruise with Spirit of the Coorong cruises in just over 3 months and we rate both of them very highly.
