Lots of birds We had a great time! First time we had ever gone through a lock. Very interesting seeing the dredging at the mouth of the Murray River and where the freshwater of the Murray River meets the saltwater of the Southern Ocean; you can actually see the difference in the water where they meet. Our guide really knew his birds which was great because birdwatching was one of the main reasons we selected this cruise. Beach walks were fun. Lunch was nice.
Coorong Adventure On a potentially uncomfortably warm day we headed off in the light and airy boat Spirit of Coorong. Fresh air kept us comfortably cool in the inside seating - we did not venture onto the upper outside viewing platform. Bain and Dave the two friendly crew members on duty entertained us with commentary throughout the day- humorous, informative and answering all the questions put to them. We had two guided walks through the steep sand dunes, one to the ocean and one to an Aboriginal midden site. The walks provided a fascinating insite into how the dune system works and constantly changes; bush craft and survival skills, together with great insight into the Aboriginal way of life in an area of abundant food and water - if one knows how to find it! Feasting on freshly cooked cockles on our return from the first walk was indeed a treat - has Bain entered for Master Chef yet?!!! Lunch and afternoon tea were more than we had expected and a delicious addition to the day. We cannot recommend this cruise more highly. We shall do it again.
Coorong Cruise Had a fabulous day cruising the Coorong with friends . What a wonderful captain and crew. Very informative and knowledgeable about the Coorong Peninsula. It is must if you are visiting Goolwa. Congratulations on an excellent lunch. Overall great value for money.
