Location Maps of South Australia and the CoorongThe Coorong is a name derived from the Ngarrindgeri Aboriginal word for narrow neck. It was declared a National Park in 1966 and is listed in a number of international agreements as a waterbird habitat of global significance. Its shallow lagoons and waterways are home to more than 200 species of waterbirds.
